Savory cake: Turkey, cheddar and fresh mushrooms

What’s going on in Pauline-Cuisine?

This week, I would like to share with you another recipe that could fit as a lunch box or main course, even as a starter for welcoming your guests. I will give you the recipe of a delicious savory cake with turkey, cheddar and fresh mushrooms.

Last weekend, I was thinking about my lunch box timetable and I was quite fed up of my weekly quiche. Even if I have a large variety of quiches and dough for quiches, I wanted something different. I was thinking of an alternative when I just thought about a dish that I like to cook when I was student or when I organized finger food diner in Paris for my friends. This savory cake is easy to do, hard to fail and it always makes a good impression. The original recipe was made with Italian ham and white wine but as I am not really keen in using alcohol, I decided to amend the recipe. Moreover, I replaced the Italian ham with turkey as the Italian ham is quite hard to slice in the cake. When I made the recipe I was a little bit worried about the size of the Turkey bits, I didn’t want them too big because it will be hard to eat as a savory cake is quite compact, I decided to make small square pieces and it works really well. The cake was airy and it was really tasty.

I encourage you to bake this delicious savory cake with turkey, cheddar and mushrooms as it is really tasty for your lunch break and easy to prepare. Don’t hesitate to comment the recipe.

Have a nice week and see you next week.

Easter chocolates and starter

What’s cooking in Pauline-Cuisine?

This weekend is quite specific because it is Easter weekend, great for two things:  eating chocolate more than usual and 4 free days. This year, I have decided to do my own chocolate. I have already tried last year but my only memory regarding this cooking experience is long, too long. So this year, I decided to try it again, it was still long but the result was really great. Indeed, this year I have bought high quality dark chocolate from Callebaut and I bought a magic powder: Mycryo. I discovered this powder on “Cooking mumu” website. And I can confirm that is right the chocolate are shiny and beautiful. I am really glad of this chocolate experience and I will share with you the recipe which is quite inspired from L’Atelier Chocolat de Pâques (Larousse).

The second recipe that I would like to share with you it is an impressive starter for your Easter banquet: salted macaron with dried tomatoes. I decided to try macaron for the first time 2 years ago. The first time I was quite frightened because everybody said that is difficult. One more time that is not really difficult it is just long. I now manage to do sweety macarons (French Chocolate and Guava Macarons, Rasperry Macarons), I have decided to launch myself on the salty one. Moreover, I wanted to use my tomato chutney, that I have received in my surprise cooking box from Récréation Gourmande. I have opted for plain cream hull (the colour of almond). The experience was tasty and it was a success. Let’s try it for your Easter starters.

Happy Easter and see you next week with a new lunch box recipe.

Passion fruits cheesecake

Edito 04/06/12
Hi everybody,

It was a long time without news, but I was quite busy with my wedding (a really wonderful day) and my new job and first job in London. This weekend, it is the first time when I can sit down enough time for sharing with you two new recipes: Light passion fruits cheesecake and Endives salad with walnuts.

When I tried a cheesecake for the first time, I was really disappointed by the taste. It was a pity because it is quick to make but you have to cook in the oven for 50 minutes. After this first disappointment, I let it down the fact to make some cheesecake. But it was really hard in England; most of the cakes are cheesecake. I decided to give me another try. I added some flavor to the yogurt, added a crispy biscuit and a passion fruits topping. The result was amazing. I did these small cakes for my last guests and they enjoyed it. Try it and post a comment.
The second recipe is a starter. I fed up of soup; indeed the last days were really hot. I am now in the mood to create new salads as a starter or as a dish. Moreover, now, I am back to work and I need to prepare my lunch box every days. So, I will nearly post a lot of fabulous and tasty recipes for doing fresh lunch box for your summer lunch at work.
